Rantings

New Yorkers are known throughout the United States as fast-talking, loud-mouthed and opinionated a reputation they are very proud of. Indeed, residents of the Big Apple take pride in the words of Frank Sinatra: If I can make it there, Ill make it anywhere. Rantings attempts to capture the energy, hunger and drive firing New York City. Through a series of monologues and observations in English and German, the audience gets a glimpse of the innermost thoughts of the inhabitants of this cramped island city. Martin Friedrichs grew up in Augsburg, Germany and was a member of the Augsburg Community Theatre for three years, appearing in EQUUS, Hamlet and Death of a Salesman, among others. He subsequently went to study acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and was a recipient of the Spencer Tracy scholarship there. He has been living and acting in the Big Apple for the last 5 years and during this time has had a chance to observe and join New Yorkers in their natural habitat. |
